Biography

Nicole Damiata has more than fourteen years of human resources experience in Connecticut public schools. She served as the Human Resources Manager for the Windsor Public Schools for two years. In this role, she was responsible for supervising the human resources staff and overseeing all HR related tasks including recruitment, new hire onboarding, district benefits, staff certification, FMLA, labor relations, employee relations, worker’s compensation, compliance and HRIS system administration. Nicole worked diligently to build strong relationships throughout the district and served as a liaison for district administration to provide guidance on contractual language interpretation, employee relation matters, discipline and conflict resolution with a focus on facilitated dialogue and mediation.

Prior to her work in Windsor, Nicole served as the Human Resources Generalist for the Berlin Public Schools for more than twelve years. Nicole worked alongside the Director of Human Resources to build the HR department from the ground up. She was an integral part of creating a process and workflow for all human resources related tasks and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws. Nicole was responsible for restructuring the entire benefit process, creating new workflows, and implementing a monthly reconciliation system and an automated employee benefits program. Nicole administered several technology initiatives by building and managing a variety of HR platforms that helped to align the district’s vision of automation and efficient management of various processes encompassing benefits, attendance, staff leaves, employee onboarding mandated training and compliance.

Her background also includes working as a Senior Implementations Specialist at Athenahealth for three years and completing a yearlong business administration internship at Walt Disney World. Nicole earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northeastern University and her Human Resources Certification (PHR/SHRM-CP) from University of Saint Joseph.

Nicole has a true passion for Human Resources. She is dedicated to attracting, motivating and retaining the best employee population, and she has a strong focus on creating and maintaining a positive work climate with an inclusive culture that supports a diverse and equitable workforce. Nicole is a member of several professional organizations, including SHRM, HRACC, HRCI, AASPA and CASPA, where she proudly serves as an executive board member. She also volunteers as often as she can with organizations such as Junior Achievement, where she has led workshops for high school students on resume writing, personal branding and interview skills and has volunteered for Dress for Success where she has helped women seeking employment prepare for interviews.

Nicole currently lives in Tolland, CT with her husband and daughter. She is a lifelong animal lover, has been a vegetarian for nearly 35 years and has 4 pets which include a new puppy, 2 cats and a rabbit. In her free time, she enjoys photography, baking with her daughter and trips to Disney with her family.
