Student Transportation Services

East Hartford Public Schools Department of Student Transportation Services will provide student transportation, under provisions of state law and regulation, under contract, for all students who qualify for such service. The walking distance for the student is not in excess of the guidelines established from time-to-time by the Board and which shall not exceed the following maximum distances or whatever other maximum distance limits are set by the State Board of Education. In general, students will be eligible for school transportation if they meet one or more of the following criteria:

  1. Elementary School students (K-5) who live one (1) mile or more from school
  2. Middle School students who live one and a half (1 .5) miles or more from school
  3. High School students who live two (2) miles or more from school
  4. Special Education and medically fragile students who qualify for bus transportation as determined by the Planning and Placement Team (PPT).

If you have moved and have not changed your address with the Family Welcome and Registration Center, the bus will not be able to transport your child to school.

For all changes, please call the Transportation Coordinator at 860-622-5974.

Your child must be at the bus stop ten (10) minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.
