East Hartford Public Schools has won a communications award
from the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) for its video
series highlighting school district staff members.
The EHPS Staff Spotlight video series won the 2022 Bonnie
B. Carney Award of Excellence for Educational Communications in the Special
Project (AV) Category. This monthly
video series recognizes and highlights staff members around the school
district who go above and beyond their job description and who make a deep
impact on their school communities.
The videos are produced by the EHPS Communications Office
and shared in the monthly East Hartford Pride newsletter, as well as on social media
to reach the greater East Hartford Community.
Doug
Foyle, CABE Area Director, delivered the award in person during the East
Hartford Board of Education meeting on February 6.
During
the presentation, Foyle said, “With this award, CABE’s goal is to identify and
honor hardworking people in the school district for their continuing effort to
communicate effectively.”

About the Bonnie B. Carney Award of
Excellence for Educational Communications
In
recognition of the good work that is being done on a daily basis, CABE
established the Awards of Excellence for Educational Communications in
1975. Effective communications with parents and taxpayers in a school
district is a very significant part of the district's operation. It is
important for the community to be aware of the exciting activities and events
taking place in our schools each day.
In 2016 the
award was renamed in honor of longtime CABE staff member Bonnie B. Carney, who
spent much of her 47 years at CABE focused on communications.
