Dear EHPS Families,

Greetings!  Today, I am writing to update you on our School Delays and Closure memo that occurs for a variety of reasons but most often related to inclement weather.  Although there may be snow days it also means our school year will extend into June for every day missed.

The details below are comprehensive and important.  Please review this letter carefully.

Scenario

Impact/Notes

2 Hour Delayed Opening

All delayed openings will be a 2-hour delay.

School Closure

School(s) will be closed for students and the June calendar will be adjusted to account for the lost school day. All before/after-school activities, events and sports including Thrive and the Adult Education Program will be cancelled (unless specifically noted as an exception).

District Closure

District offices and schools will be closed.

Early Dismissal

Schools will be dismissed following bell times articulated in the district bell schedule for Early Dismissal Schedule. All after-school activities, events and sports including Thrive and the Adult Education Program will be cancelled (unless specifically noted as an exception).

Cancellation of After-School Events/ Activities

All after-school activities, events and sports including Thrive and the Adult Education Program will be cancelled (unless specifically noted as an exception).

Delay, cancellations and closure information will be communicated using ParentSquare to notify parents, guardians, and/or the designated student emergency contacts.  It is crucial that all emergency numbers in PowerSchool are kept up to date to ensure that parents, guardians and/or emergency contacts receive this important message. For up to date information regarding all schools during inclement weather, follow local media stations and East Hartford Public Schools on Twitter @EastHartfordPS.  You can also check the district's website at www.easthartford.org  or call the Board of Education "HOTLINE" at 622-5131.

Thanks for your attention to these details.

Appreciative,

Nathan Quesnel, Ed.D.
Superintendent
