Cynthia Callahan, Principal of John A. Langford School, is Connecticut’s 2022 Elementary School Principal of the Year. The Connecticut Association of Schools selected Callahan after an application process, which included a visit to Langford School and interviews with teachers, students and parents.
“It is such an honor. I am so proud of our school community,” said Callahan. “I am thankful for our committed staff who meet every learner, every day, with rich opportunities for important, purposeful, student-centered learning at Langford. I am very grateful to be a part of the Langford/East Hartford Schools team!”.
East Hartford’s Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools Elsie Torres nominated Callahan, citing her leadership that led to Langford being named a “School of Distinction” by the state.
“Cyndi Callahan leads with grace, poise, consistency, and with a strong emphasis on relationships in which everyone cares for one another and supports one another. Her commitment, urgency, and student-centered approach is second to none,” said Torres.
Callahan, along with the state middle school and high school principals of the year, will be honored at a recognition dinner in October.
“I’m so proud of Cyndi and really excited about this statewide recognition of her incredible abilities,” said EHPS Superintendent Nathan Quesnel.
“She is one of those special leaders who has never forgotten that this is about kids, people, and working together,” he said. “We’re so appreciative to have her on our team.”
