Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA) Library Media Specialist Elizabeth Wright is this year’s recipient of the Connecticut Association of School Librarians (CASL) Carlton W. H. Erickson Award. This esteemed award honors an individual who has made a remarkable contribution to CASL and/or the library community. The award recognizes an emerging leader in media services at the building level, whose dedication to students, faculty, lay citizens, and the instructional program has been exceptional.
“I feel honored to receive this award from the Connecticut Association of School Librarians,” said Wright. “I have been in East Hartford for two years and have worked with some outstanding people who have enabled me to further develop our library and its programming. I am excited to collaborate more with the CASL to explore additional opportunities for CIBA’s and all of East Hartford Public Schools’ libraries.”
The recipient of the Carlton W. H. Erickson Award exemplifies the qualities of an emerging leader in the media profession. Despite being relatively new in the media field in Connecticut, Wright’s impact has been significant.
"The Carlton W. H. Erickson Award is a testament to the dedication, influence, and innovation of this emerging leader in our profession," said Melissa Thom, President of CASL. "We are delighted to honor them for their outstanding achievements."
Wright was honored during CASL's "Spring Fling" Awards banquet, which took place on June 1 at Elizabeth's Restaurant in Rocky Hill. For more information about CASL and the Carlton W. H. Erickson Award, please visit the CASL website at https://casl.wildapricot.org/.
