Youth Employability Skills (Yes) Academy
The Youth Employability Skills Academy (Yes) is an exciting weeklong opportunity to meet and work with business and non-profit professionals on building your communication, writing, interviewing, and employability skills to be competitive in the workplace. By participating in the Academy, you will work with an Employer Liaison Team to get your foot in the door and interview with area companies and businesses.
As a participant in this program, you will have the opportunity to meet men and women who work at companies in the Hartford area. These professionals have volunteered because they enjoy their jobs and want to share some of their knowledge with you. They can be great resources to you as you begin to think about what type of career you want and how to find a job.
They can explain to you:
- What they like about their jobs
- What challenges they had to overcome to get where they are today
- What kind of education is required for their job
- What opportunities there might be for you in their field
The activities in the program will help you identify what you can do to reach your goals. By participating in all of the sessions you will learn more about yourself and what career you will be happy doing. You will also be taught the skills you will need in order to have a better chance of getting hired for the job you want. You will also have fun.
Please take full advantage of this exciting program and the interesting people you meet. Companies throughout Connnecticut are looking for future employees with the skills, abilities and positive work attiude that you will learn about in the Yes Academy.
