A student in the East Hartford Public Schools is eligible for graduation upon the successful completion of requirements leading to the award of a diploma. These requirements include a minimum of 22 credits that meet the distribution requirement and beginning with the class of 2014, meet the performance standards which are based on the EHHS Student Expectations.
Beginning with the class of 2014, and all subsequent classes, students must receive credit in the following areas for graduation:
- English - 4 Credits
- Mathematics - 3 Credits
- Social Studies - 3 Credits including 1.0 in United States History and .5 in Civics
- Science - 2 Credits
- Arts/Vocational Education - 1 Credit
- Physical Education/Health - 2 Credits (.5 credit taken every year)
- Community Service - 30 Hours
- Electives - 7 Credits
In order for credits to be applied retroactively to a June dated diploma, they must be earned no later than the first day of the next academic year. Any credits earned after the first day of the next academic year will serve to complete graduation requirements making the student eligible for a diploma dated as of the next June graduation ceremony.
