Class of 2020 March 2018 update

college & career readiness

March is always pegged as a “long month” in the anticipation of spring, warmer weather, and limited holidays or time off. With that being said, between the snow and busy times here at EHHS – we certainly have a lot to look forward to during remainder of the month as we move swiftly towards our April break. As noted last month, students will take the PSAT on (3/21/18). A letter has been sent to students and families outlining this half-day schedule and purpose for the day. Additionally, counselors have been reviewing scores from October and encouraging students to use KHAN Academy, College Board, and Naviance as useful resources in preparation for the assessment. This is a great opportunity for our students to develop a sense of their progress and potential, while planning for further SAT preparation and College and Career Readiness opportunities. Please speak with your child about the PSAT and contact our team with any questions.

results matter!

Each month our house team reviews applicable student data and goals for the class of 2020. Specifically, we focus on attendance, academics, and service. Below is a summary of each of these areas to date. Students are challenged to identify where they stand in each area. We will use this collectively to set goals and discussion points for the needs of each child.

sat prep opportunities

On Friday, March 9th our class of 2020 family met during “Hornet Time” to discuss SAT Preparation opportunities that will begin this summer and continue through next fall and spring semesters. All students in our class with be able to participate in a SAT Prep course, free of charge (most courses cost upwards of $400), prior to the 2019 test. Students will be receiving applications and permission slips for summer sessions this week. This is an exciting way for students to learn about the test, develop strategies, and practice problems that will assist in earning the best possible score. Over 90% of EHHS students who have taken these courses have improved their scores and almost 50% has increased by 100 total points. More information on the summer program can be found on the application and program overview links.
