Student Transportation Services

East Hartford Public Schools will provide student transportation, under provisions of state law and regulation, under contract, for all students who qualify for such service.  The walking distance for the student is in excess of the guidelines established from time-to-time by the Board which shall not exceed the following maximum distances or whatever other maximum distance limits are set by the State Board of Education.  In general, students will be eligible for school transportation if one or more of the following criteria is present and remains uncorrected by the Board:
  1. Elementary School students (K-6) walk up to one (1) mile

  2. Middle School students walk up to one and one-half (1 1/2) miles

  3. High School students walk up to two (2) miles

  4. Special Education and medically fragile students who qualify for bus transportation.

Have your child at the bus stop ten (10) minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.

If you have moved and have not changed your address with the Central Registration Department, the bus will not be able to transport your child to school.

For all changes, please call the Transportation Coordinator, at 860.622.5139.
