I wanted to share some exciting news and ask you to join with me in congratulating Mrs. Corrie Schram who was selected last night by the East Hartford Board of Education as the new principal of the Anna E. Norris Elementary School. Corrie will replace Dr. Orszulak who will be retiring at the end of this school year after 31 plus years of dedicated service to East Hartford children. While Dr. O will be sorely missed, we are thrilled to promote Corrie to this position and look forward to the contributions we know she will make.
In East Hartford, we deeply believe in hiring, developing and promoting talent throughout our system. I cannot think of a better example of this belief personified when I think about Corrie who first came to EHPS four years ago as an assistant principal at O’Brien School. Corrie worked as a Science teacher and Administrative Dean in Orange County, Florida before returning to Connecticut (she apparently love cold weather) to raise her young family. Over the past four years, Corrie has earned the reputation of being a strong, high potential leader, an incredible colleague and an example of the values we hold so dear. Her resume and professional track record are long listings of proven leadership, advocacy for kids and support for staff. In addition to her school leadership tasks, Corrie also co-chairs the District’s Social Emotional Learning Subcommittee, has participated in and provided extensive professional development on restorative practices, and served as the District elementary summer school coordinator for the past three summers.
Throughout the interview process, Corrie impressed us with her proven experience knowledge, passion and commitment to team. She understands that accomplishments only happen by working together and expressed deep understanding of our core value, “results matter.”
We are thrilled to have Corrie in this new role that will begin in July. Please join with me in congratulating her appointment.
Take good care of yourself—hope to see you soon,
