Theory of Action #2: Transform Student Culture

STEP Program

During the first semester in STEP, students engaged in this intervention for a period of six weeks at the beginning or end of a quarter.  Students in grade ten completed applicable coursework with the STEP teachers and each had an individual plan regarding electives and support needs.  The program is proud of the 99.8% work submission rate from teachers!  Additionally, student work completion rate was identified as follows:

BIR PROGRAM

The BIR program provided a recovery intervention for over twenty students per grade within the first semester.  During this time, Over 83% of work was submitted for the 1600 requested assignments and 92% of these were completed!  Additionally, student support from behavior teams commenced at a rate of over 93%!  Out of the 8 content areas, 6 provided work over 80% of the time, which allowed students to remain engaged and on-time with prescribed assignments and assessments.  Moving forward the BIR team asks that all departments continue to make an effort to provide daily work and house support teams continue to touch base with students to support their social and emotional needs.  Thank you!

BIR Coordinator:  Nathan Allison,  x32190;  allison.na@easthartford.org, Office:  EHHS—Room 189A

RESTORATIVE PRACTICES

On January 23, 2018, the EHHS team will engage in our third Restorative Practices session.  During this time, staff will have the opportunity to review current practices, engage in circle discussions, and actively plan for next steps in the classroom.  A copy of the presentation resources will be available following the meeting.  Moving forward throughout the year, our team at EHHS will continue to be restorative with our approach to supporting all students in the classroom and school community.  More resources and reflective sessions will be conducted during the spring.  If you would like more information or resources, please contact
