Transportation for Elementary Day Care Students
Parents are reminded that the Board of Education’s day care center transportation policy requires that the day care transportation must be within the home school district, Monday through Friday. Out-of-area approved students must provide their own transportation to schools and day care facilities. Student transportation pursuant to this policy will be provided upon written parental request which must be forwarded to the Transportation Coordinator of the school district.
The deadline for submission of requests for day care transportation is always August 1st (request form). All requests received for day care transportation after that date will be processed by staff in mid-September after the start of the school year.
The purpose of the August 1st deadline is to ensure that all day care requests can be included in the overall plan for school bus routes. It is critical for the school district to have all the bus routes set and in place before the start of the school year. All school bus routes are published in the local papers and are available to parents on our website. We cannot make day care changes to bus routes two weeks prior to the opening of school or during the first few weeks of school.
- In order to provide the safest transportation for your child, transportation will only be provided to the same address five days a week. We are unable to honor requests for different pick-up and drop-off locations on different days.
- Bus drivers cannot accept or authorize changes to alter bus routes; requests for changes must come through the school district.
Please understand that it is one of the Board of Education’s goals to provide the safest transportation to our students to and from school.
