East Hartford Public Schools offers a rigorous academic course of study for students in grades 6-12. The program in grades 6 -8 provides a foundation for the advanced knowledge and skills they will acquire in high school. All of our subjects incorporate the literacy and math expectations that are outlined in the Common Core State Standards. The goal of the academic program is “to provide a high-quality education to every student, every day” in an effort to prepare them for college and a career. Information about each academic area can be found on Department - Academics web-page.
East Hartford Public Schools is proud of the options it provides for families of students in grades 6-12.
East Hartford Middle School (grades 6-8) is designed to develop the students’ academic and social skills in a caring and nurturing environment. They can select to learn on a traditional academic team or can choose one that includes specific theme-based programs that focus on a special area of interest such as STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
East Hartford Public Schools offers two options for high school students.
East Hartford High School (grades 9-12) offers a comprehensive program that is designed to provide each student with rigorous core academic courses that are required for graduation by the Connecticut State Department of Education. Similar to the middle school, East Hartford High School offers theme-based programs and coursework that develop students’ interests as well as skills that will help them to succeed as they pursue college and/or a career.
The Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy (CIBA) is a theme-based magnet school that is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to be citizens in a global society. Students at CIBA study six core academic areas and take international exams that allow them to earn credit for college. Students who are interested in CIBA must apply through the Greater Hartford Regional School Choice Office.
