
East Hartford Public Schools is proud to announce Connecticut IB Academy and Dr. Franklin H. Mayberry School have been named “Schools of Distinction” by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) for the 2024-2025 school year. Schools earn this recognition by performing within the top 10% statewide in academic achievement or growth. 140 schools earned this recognition for last school year.
Schools are identified through the state’s Next Generation Accountability System, which evaluates performance across 12 key indicators including academic achievement, growth, chronic absenteeism, college and career readiness, high school graduation, postsecondary enrollment, physical fitness, and the arts.
Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA) was recognized again this year for high performance. The International Baccalaureate school earned an accountability index score of 89.61 out of 100 across all indicators. Recently, CIBA was also named the #1 high school in Connecticut by U.S. News and World Report for the second year in a row.
Dr. Franklin H. Mayberry School, a K-5 elementary school, earned the “School of Distinction” recognition for high growth in Math for all students and among students with high needs. In this academic growth indicator, all Mayberry students earned 83.6% compared to a state-level average of 62.3%. High needs students at Mayberry earned 83.8% compared to a state-level average of 55.9%.
Outside of these exciting recognitions, East Hartford Public Schools increased its overall performance in ELA, Math and Science from 23-24 to 24-25 for all students and among those with high needs.
