U.S. News & World Report has ranked Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA) as the #2 high school in Connecticut. The publication released its annual high school rankings this week, which includes nearly 24,000 public high schools in the country and 200 in the state.
CIBA ranked #239 nationally with an overall score of 98.66/100. In addition, CIBA was ranked #55 in Magnet High Schools nationally and #1 in Hartford Metro Area High Schools.
According to its website, U.S. News and World Report evaluates high schools in a comprehensive way focusing on six factors: college readiness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rates.
In terms of the college curriculum breadth index rank, CIBA ranked #1 in the state. This indicator reflects the proportion of grade 12 students who pass IB exams in multiple subject areas.
CIBA Principal Kathleen Simoneau said, “These accolades are a testament to the dedication of all members of the CIBA family, including the CIBA staff, students, families, and CIBA alumni. The CIBA staff is fully committed to guiding each student to realize their full potential through our IB programmes, thus ensuring that each student is well prepared for college and careers. Their expertise, compassion, and innovation make CIBA an engaging and dynamic learning community.”
“We thank the EHPS Board of Education and the Superintendent’s Cabinet Team for their continued support,” she added. “We are also very grateful to the CIBA families for choosing CIBA and for partnering with us in their student’s education.”
