Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA) has once again been recognized as the #1 high school in Connecticut by U.S. News & World Report, marking the third consecutive year that the East Hartford Public Schools district school has earned the state’s top ranking.

CIBA ranked #1 among all high schools in Connecticut and #153 nationally among nearly 18,000 high schools ranked by U.S. News & World Report, placing it among the top 1% of high schools nationwide.

The recognition reflects the strength of CIBA’s rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) academic program and the dedication of its students, faculty and staff. CIBA offers both the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (DP), providing students in grades 9-12 with a challenging college-preparatory experience grounded in critical thinking, inquiry, global perspectives and international-mindedness.

U.S. News and World Report evaluates schools on their performance on state-required assessments, graduation rates, and how well they prepare students for college.

“Our students work incredibly hard, and they continually demonstrate what may seem impossible to others when they embrace challenges and believe in themselves,” said CIBA Principal Michelle Marion. “Our staff inspire and motivate students to push beyond what they initially think they can accomplish. The IB curriculum is rigorous, but our students learn to persevere, ask questions, collaborate, take risks, and achieve. This ranking was earned by every member of the CIBA community.”

“I am incredibly proud of CIBA’s students, educators, families and staff for this outstanding achievement,” said East Hartford Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Anderson. “This ranking reflects the high-quality learning experiences we strive to provide across all of our schools in East Hartford. Our students deserve challenging opportunities, exceptional educators and supportive learning environments that prepare them for success, and CIBA exemplifies that commitment.”
