For the second year in a row, Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA) has been named the #1 high school in Connecticut in the U.S. News & World Report high school rankings. The International Baccalaureate (IB) school located in the East Hartford Public Schools district was also recognized among the nation’s top public high schools, ranking #109 out of 17,901 high schools nationwide.

U.S. News and World Report evaluates schools on their performance on state-required assessments, graduation rates, and how well they prepare students for college. CIBA has a 100% graduation rate, 97% of students took at least one IB exam, and 91% of students passed at least one IB exam.

“This ranking is a testament to the hard work and passion of the entire CIBA community,” said Principal Michelle Marion. “We are deeply proud of our students’ commitment to excellence, the high expectations set by our staff, and the support from families that helps make this achievement possible. The rigorous IB framework has empowered our students to not only meet but exceed expectations.”

CIBA offers the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP) through the International Baccalaureate, providing a globally recognized and academically challenging curriculum for students in grades 9 through 12. With a strong emphasis on college and career readiness, students at CIBA learn to become independent inquirers and problem solvers.

“This ranking reflects the incredible dedication of our students, educators, and families,” said Thomas Anderson, Superintendent of East Hartford Public Schools. “CT IB Academy models the academic rigor and supportive learning environment we strive to create in East Hartford. Students graduate as global citizens prepared to excel in college and career and make an impact on the world around them.”
