East Hartford Middle School Psychologist Cailey Creech is being recognized for her work at EHMS last school year as a school psychologist intern.
The Connecticut Association of School Psychologists (CASP) named Creech an Intern of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year. The award is given to three individuals across the School Psychology graduate programs in the state (University of Hartford, University of Fairfield, and Southern Connecticut State University). This award recognizes those school psychology interns who display high ethical standards and professional practice, implement innovative programs, have research and/or special project accomplishments, and display commitment to their internship placement and the profession as a whole.
“I was genuinely so surprised to be chosen for this award, I tend to struggle to give myself credit and believe in myself, so when other people around you see your dedication and desire to do well, it means so much,” said Creech. “This award just solidifies the hard work and dedication that I put into work every single day. I think about my students often, and I genuinely care about them and their success. Seeing my students thrive and make connections with other kids is so special. Every single one of the students at East Hartford Middle School is capable of reaching their goals and if I can in any way be a part of their journey, I take that as an honor and a privilege.”
She said, “I couldn't be more grateful for my experience here last year and that I was chosen to continue here this year.”
Creech was nominated by her internship supervisor Jessica Patras. She was honored, along with the other two 2023-2024 Interns of the Year, during CASP’s annual Xan Lopez School Psychology Seminar at the University of Hartford on November 15.
