East Hartford Public Schools is getting an early start on hiring for the 2022-2023 school year. In January, about two months earlier than usual, EHPS administrators started recruiting a talented and diverse workforce to join our school communities.

Human Resources Director Christopher Wethje said starting the search earlier is allowing us access to top talent during a time of workforce shortages. Already this winter, we’ve been able to attract great candidates to the district.

“I’m more excited than I’ve ever been about the class of new hires that we’ve started to bring in and the potential it brings for the students of East Hartford,” said Wethje.

EHPS is looking for those who are new to the profession and welcoming educators from other districts looking to make a change. Some of the specific areas in which we’re hiring include special education, elementary education, Chinese language, music and fine arts education, and technical education.

East Hartford offers the highest starting salaries in Hartford County. Our staff also benefit from teaching under long-serving principals and central office leadership who get to know their team personally and professionally.

Daniel Tavares, the district’s first hire for next school year, said East Hartford was his top choice when searching for a teaching position. (Learn more about Daniel in the video below).

“The diverse students, the resources and the leadership really made East Hartford stand out to the rest,” said Tavares. “East Hartford was my number one. When I got the call for an interview, I hadn’t applied to anywhere else, and I got hired. So, it’s an answered prayer to be here today.”
