Biography
Anne Marie Mancini is the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment for East Hartford Public Schools. Prior to this role, she served as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC). During her time at CREC, she developed curricula and assessment tools for the district's eighteen magnet schools. She was also responsible for the successful implementation of the Common Core State Standards into CREC schools, the development of its online Professional Development Laboratory (P21) for educators, and the creation of school-based partnerships with business, industries and institutes of higher education. Under her leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, CREC's district of magnet schools experienced marked increases in student achievement during a time of rapid growth.
Prior to her role as Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for CREC, Anne Marie worked as an English and a Social Studies teacher at CREC's Metropolitan Learning Center and at Newington High School in Newington, CT.
Anne Marie has numerous honors and achievements, including being a selected to participate in Connecticut State Department of Education's Rigorous Curriculum Design Team and the State Network of Educators (SNE) for the Smarter Balanced Digital Library. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development (ASCD) and the National Council of the Teachers of English (NCTE), and has delivered many professional presentations and workshops based on her expertise in the area of curriculum design and assessment.
She holds both a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Connecticut, and a Sixth Year Certificate from Central Connecticut State University.
Anne Marie currently lives in West Hartford, CT with her two young daughters. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, watching sports and takes frequent trips to the Jersey Shore.
