Biography
Finance Director Tea Culani has worked for East Hartford Public Schools for three years. Mrs. Culani has held various budget and finance roles with increasing responsibility, including Controller for Finance and Operations and Interim Assistant Finance Director. Her accomplishments in the finance department include implementing strategic financial initiatives to drive cost savings. She is skilled in budget management, risk mitigation and financial reporting.
Mrs. Culani has a strong background in procurement and strives to build relationships with vendors to secure cost-effective contracts in the best interest of the district. Her goal is to guide the finance department to ensure operations and financial strategies are in accordance with Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) and support the district’s objectives and growth plans.
Prior to East Hartford, Mrs. Culani worked at RSM US LLP for three years as an auditor specializing in governmental entities. She has experience in auditing payroll, accounts payable and receivables, cash management, general ledger, inventory, reconciliations and various accounting processes. Mrs. Culani received her undergraduate degree and MBA degree from Central Connecticut State University.
When not at work, Mrs. Culani enjoys spending time with her dog Teddy, husband and family. She also enjoys traveling back home to Albania.
