Biography
Ellen Delgado is the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning at East Hartford Public Schools. Prior to this role, Ellen worked within the district for over 20 years in a variety of instructional roles, and most recently as the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction since 2021. Ellen worked with district departments, leaders and educators PreK-12 to plan and implement systems to address student improvement initiatives through aligned curriculum, assessment and instruction. She conducted data and program analysis, developed and lead professional development, and planned and paced all elementary instructional units and assessments. Her work to implement high-leverage literacy and school improvement action steps helped lead to 5 out of 8 East Hartford elementary schools achieving CT State Department of Education School of Distinction status in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. Prior to serving in the Supervisor role, Delgado served as an Elementary Literacy Content Specialist for five years creating and revising literacy instructional units, assessment plans and intervention supports. She also served as an Elementary Literacy Coach and Instructional Coach for five years, and an elementary teacher for nine years.
Ellen received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Elementary Teacher Certification from University of Saint Joseph. She received Master’s degrees in Reading and Writing Instruction and in Special Education from Walden University. She earned her 1-12 Remedial Reading/Literacy Specialist Endorsement from Albertus Magnus College and her Educational Leadership/092 certification (6th Year) from Central Connecticut State University.
Aside from her work in education, Ellen enjoys time with her husband, two daughters and their dogs. She also enjoys time with friends and traveling.
