About Our School

East Hartford Middle School has a population of approximately 1,100 students (Grade 6-8) who reflect a rich diversity of culture, ethnicity and traditions. Our commitment continues in providing the time, energy and resources to the education of each and every student member of our “Falcon Family.” Our powerful connections with the State Department of Education, Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut as well as other colleges and Universities has established EHMS as a premier training facility for the development of high quality teachers. We demand the best from ourselves everyday and take pride in offering our students and families a quality educational experience. This emphasis to create a climate of hope, positivity, and meaningful instructional relationships were recently recognized by the Connecticut Association of Schools in the “Exemplary Climate Award 2010-2013.” We are proud of this recognition and continue to focus on ways we can improve our current practice. Our responsive programs that are the cornerstones of this award include Peer Leadership, Intensive Conflict Resolution/Peer Mediation Program, Transition and Transformation Programming, Developmental Guidance Structure, Character Education, over 30 Clubs and activities in addition to an intramural and interscholastic sports programs involving over 500 students. Our students’ school days are embedded with inspirational incentives such as our recognition activities celebrating student achievement, and our “Flying Falcon” program that provides incentives and social benefits to students who adhere to and consistently model great choices. EHMS is proud to offer a myriad of quality programming that celebrates scholastic improvement and encourage students to make middle school the track to success. Our administration, teachers, staff and students are firmly committed to building the school family and living the values of our motto, Commitment, Integrity, and Achievement.
