Saving to your Network Drive

The end of the year is approaching and you must make sure to save all your important documents. All pcs will be re-imaged over the summer with new programs and windows security updates. What this means is:

ALL DOCUMENTS STORED ON YOUR LOCAL HARD DRIVE WILL BE ERASED OVER THE SUMMER.

ALL DOCUMENTS IN YOUR MY DOCUMENTS FOLDER ARE STORED ON THE LOCAL HARD DRIVE AND WILL BE ERASED AS WELL. THE MY DOCUMENTS FOLDER IS NOT ON THE NETWORK.

DOCUMENTS SAVED TO YOUR H: DRIVE/NETWORK FOLDER WILL BE SAVED (PROCEDURE ATTACHED).

It is also recommended to save all important documents to a usb drive, floppy disk or burn to a cd, backup is a good thing. The procedures for saving to the network drive are useful during the school year as well since your important files are automatically backed up nightly in case of a computer hardware failure or other mishap. When you save to the local hard drive and it fails we may not be able to recover your documents and they will be lost. Have a good summer.
