November 7, 2017 - day of choice
TO: All East Hartford K – 12 Certified Staff
DATE: October 12, 2017
SUBJECT: Staff Development Day: November 7, 2017, Day of Choice
The November 7, 2017 staff development day is dedicated as East Hartford’s Day of Choice by the East Hartford Professional Development Committee. The committee is comprised of teachers and administrators from the elementary, secondary and district levels and is dedicated to providing all of you with opportunities for professional growth. We reached out to our talented East Hartford staff and were delighted to receive many, many outstanding and relevant proposals for professional development workshops from teachers and administrators. The committee reviewed and discussed each one and determined which opportunities to offer to you as options on this very special day of choice.
Please find the catalog of professional development options. During the registration period (as described below) you will select either two (2) workshops: one morning session and one afternoon session, or a full day choice. It is extremely important to keep in mind the target audience within the activity description. Choose a session that is appropriate for you. There is a cap on the number of participants allowed to register for any one session. Once that number is reached, the session will close out. I highly suggest that you review the list prior to attempting to register, prioritize your choices, and then begin to select through Protraxx. Facilitators of activities are asked to NOT register for their own activity.
Please make note of the registration period on your calendar. Registration will be open in Protraxx in the morning of Friday, October 20, 2017, and will remain open until midnight on Friday, October 26, 2017. If by the end of that period you are not fully enrolled, activities will be selected for you based on the closest alignment to your teaching/work area.
Directions for accessing and registering for workshops on Protraxx. At the elementary level, coaches are available to support you through the process. At the secondary level, department supervisors and department heads can provide support. Please let me know if you feel the need for extra support. We want to be sure that everyone has an equal opportunity to register in a timely fashion.
If you have any questions on any part of the plan or process, please do not hesitate to contact me. It is our intention to make this as easy as possible for everyone.
I want to publicly thank those of you who submitted proposals to support this effort and for your dedication to the process of improvement for all of our students. Without your willingness to do the extra work, none of this would be possible.
Thank you for all that you do!
Supervisor of Professional Development, Program Improvement, and Gifted & Talented
