Woodland School is a day treatment type of program for students that require a smaller more structured, nurturing environment. Students receive constant encouragement to succeed educationally and behaviorally.
At Woodland School we treat students and staff like they are in an educational family. We stress the importance of making good choices. Students are never bad but their choices may be. The structure of our school emphasizes making good choices. When students make good decisions we reward this with positive results. We do not believe in suspension at Woodland School. We deal with issues at our building.
While a student attends Woodland School we encourage them to participate in their home school activities. Some of our teachers are coaches at East Hartford High School and Middle School. This assists our students in this goal.
Woodland School has 17 academic classes that range from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Each academic class is self-contained. The students may participate in a variety of specials, such as, music, woodshop, art, music and physical education.
It is our goal to transition our students back to their home school as soon as they are ready. If a student graduates from Woodland School they receive an East Hartford High School Academic Diploma.
