Volunteer Program

East Hartford has an active school volunteer program.  It operates throughout the school district.  New participants are recruited throughout the school year and are always welcome.  Volunteers provide tutorial services to classrooms, clerical assistance in the school library/media centers, computer and secretarial help in the school offices, after school services and activities, among other activities.

Volunteering with East Hartford Public Schools provides an opportunity for community members and businesses to become more familiar with our schools and for school staff to develop a more personal relationship with parents, community members, and businesses, while also making an impact on the lives of students.

If you are interested in volunteering in any aspect with East Hartford Public Schools, please contact your nearest school and complete the attached Volunteer Information Form and Waiver of Liability.

With the utmost concern for the safety and security of our students, anyone seeking to volunteer on a regular basis (more than 3 visits to a school in one school year) will be required to submit fingerprints through CREC (see CREC Fingerprinting Requisition Form below) for a criminal background check prior to beginning service as a volunteer and  must also complete the Volunteer Information Form and Waiver of Liability Form and submit to the school principal for approval.
