Anita Morrison was born and raised in East Hartford;  went to Mayberry Elementary School, O’Brien Middle School and graduated in 1976 from East Hartford High School.  After receiving a degree in accounting from Manchester Community College in 1978, she married John Morrison and then went on to have two sons.  From 1980 to 1993, she worked for the law firm Shipman and Goodwin as a Probate Paralegal, and then worked as an Office Manager and Paralegal for a small Glastonbury law firm until 2004.  Now she is self employed as a bookkeeper and a commercial real estate sales agent.   Both her sons went through East Hartford’s schools, except for Gregg’s high school years; he went to Cheney Technical School.  Jeremy graduated in 2001, number three in his class then on to Boston College and finally the University of Chicago.  Gregg graduated with a certification in welding, took a post graduate class and now attends Manchester Community College while working full time as a welder.  Anita was always involved with her sons’ education, as well as an active member of the PTO.  Through the years, she served every office as President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary plus as Secretary of the District-Wide PTO.  Currently she is very active with her Church with their food bank; she volunteers helping young pregnant women and visits the elderly and the sick.  She is a woman of faith and believes that children are a gift from God.

Why are you a Board of Education Member?:
Ms. Morrison joined the school board in November, 2007.  She wants test scores to rise, as well as more active PTO’s in every single school by encouraging more parent participation.  She believes there should be a strong link between the public schools, religious organizations, and social services of all kinds.
