Regular assessment of students is part of any good instructional program. At Synergy, there are two types of assessments: formative assessments and summative assessments.
Formative Assessments -- These assessments occur during the learning. Teachers utilize formative assessments to influence next steps in the learning cycle. Some examples of formative assessments at Synergy include: exit slips, career readiness inventory (CRI), in-class quizzes, graphic organizers, learning logs, and some bell activities.
Summative Assessments -- These assessments occur less frequently than formative assessments. At Synergy, STAR Testing, CAPT Science, and the SAT are all examples of summative assessments. The aim of these assessments is to assess growth over time and assess the current state of Synergy students.
