East Hartford Adult and Continuing Education was recently awarded a $500 mini-grant from the East Hartford School Business Partnerships to host two “Community Reading and Craft Clubs.” This is the first time that East Hartford Adult and Continuing Education has received this grant. The second event was held on Thursday, May 14, at East Hartford High School and nearly 35 Adult Education students and their children were in attendance. East Hartford Mayor Marcia Leclerc was the guest reader, and read “Stellaluna” to the crowd. Then children worked on craft activities, while their parents listed to Mrs. Carol Enes describe ways to help children with their reading at home. The night finished with students making a “Stellaluna” themed snack.
