Currently, in science we are exploring our environment.  We have looked at the what Brownfield sites are, where they are in East Hartford, the types of remediation and how cleanup can be economically beneficial to the town.  The students have just finished writing a letter to the Mayor of Manchester, in which they advised him on how to proceed with the issue of Brownfield sites in his town.
We will continue exploring issues of Sustainability and Natural Resources and start looking into the topic of Climate Change by using real world data.  Students will be able to describe the chemical and physical processes that drive the carbon cycle and will learn the difference between weather and climate.  Furthermore, technology and lifestyle can cause significant  changes and we will explore both the positive and negative sides of that in our environment.
