Each May, the EHHS English Department honors students with the following department awards:
Trinity Club of Hartford Book Award: Awarded to an exceptional junior student with a high scholastic standing and service to their school.
Yale Book Award: Awarded to a college prep junior student in the top 10-15% of their class who demonstrates qualities of leadership, teamwork and organizational abilities as shown in their participation in extracurricular activities.
Harvard/Radcliffe Club Book Award: Awarded to a junior student who displays excellence in scholarship and high character, combined with achievement in other fields.
Dartmouth Club Book Award: Awarded to a junior student in the top 10% of their class, academic achievement and leadership.
Outstanding Four Year Student in English: Awarded to a student who has done consistently fine work in English. This student is conscientious, dedicated to the school and community and shows outstanding leadership.
The Buzz Award: The recipient of this award demonstrates the dedication, perseverance and strong work ethic needed to produce the school newspaper – The Buzz
Joseph Reidy English Award: Awarded to the best writer in the senior class.
Holly Saul Stone English Award: Awarded to the student selected as having outstanding potential and ability to pursue English as a major.
The Crossroads Poetry Award: The recipient of this award has contributed excellent work to the EHHS Literary magazine – Crossroads
English Department Award: Awarded to a student who has demonstrated strong competence in English.
Rosemary Nicholson Writing Award: Awarded to the best writer in the Junior class.
Literature Award: Awarded to a student who consistently demonstrates a love of literature.
